This is the Countdown

The posting reaches three consecutive days, and I better check my pulse, because this surely isn't human, at least not by my standards. Anyway, I thought it would be proper to set out the list of books that I've secured from the University of Georgia library, and that will be accompanying me to PHX and PDX this summer.

1. Jane Austen, Emma - Surprised?
2. Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart - A book I was required to have read in high school. So, I'm finally reading it. Great title, by the way.
3. Henry James, Portrait of a Lady - Apparently quite the master novelist, and so long as someone can weave a good story, I'm willing to check them out.
   
4. E.M. Forster, Howard's End - Quite recommended by a few friends; eager to see why.
   
5. Edith Wharton, House of Mirth - See above.
6. Alan Paton, Cry, the Beloved Country - more African literature -- a topic of which I have been quite fond, in my brief exposure to it (see Olaudah Equiano, Equiano's Travels; Patrice Malidoma Some's Of Water and the Spirit)

So, that's the final cut -- ought to keep me busy enough, I think.
