The insect life are singing their song here in the late evening heat. If you could sit on this bench beside the lamplit walkway. Pant legs rolled up of course - it's the Southern way, or at least cliche dictates so. If Bruce Hornsby was whispering into your ear stories about valley roads, music on the range, an old plantation... If your t-shirt clung to your skin and your hair matted down onto your forehead... If antebellum columns loomed across the green... Maybe then you'd feel within you that stir of romantic excitement that has so accompanied me during the start of this post.
I am blessed to find myself in the company of many fine fellow students. I feel quite confident in the prospect of this place yielding good people, good friends, good souls who thirst for something much deeper than knowledge, something much more meaningful.
I sat in class this evening, mind adrift in the waves of a fantastically confusing presentation about enterprise archictecture. I thought about how tight things are here. People are in close proximity to each other. Businesses share office walls, and students gladly use the space above as loft housing. Out west, we have space. Or, we choose to use our space. There's space out here, too, but people seem to drift back toward each other. Funny how geography can so subtley influence the atmosphere of a community.

Hey Aaron,
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! I look forward to seeing more. We miss you here in the west. Keep us posted on all your adventures, or at least the G rated ones. (I know your mom, you know.)
Have a great time!
Aaron!! Hi buddy, I'm so excited for you!! I envision us sittung at Rosie's with a beer and laughing till we cry!! Can't wait to see you in September!
ReplyDeleteMeredith
Love the hardwood floors... and beautiful furniture.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the romantic atmosphere of Georgia and it warms my hard that the Hornsby is part of your journey... he always should be. To add to your Bruce song collection... a definitive one for me has and always will be "Western Skyline"... but Mandolin Rain is ever close to my heart... play that one as the southern rains beat upon your porch roof... classic.
Bruce, you are truely a master of everything that is great about life.
Miranda
Aaron,
ReplyDeleteI agree that there is something about the east that draws people close together, maybe becuase there isn't alot of wide open spaces like the desert.People are drawn to interweave their lives together like that of a beauty tapestry(Web,def. heavy textile that has a design or pictures woven into it and is used). What a beautiful picture of what God is designing for this season of your life and when he is done and you can take a step back to look at his masterpiece what a beautiful sight it will be to behold.
